Event Details

On this Juneteenth weekend, join us for a bit of the blues! In collaboration with Artists in Partnership, the Long Beach Library is proud to be virtually hosting the 2021 Barrier Blues Fest on Thursday, June 17 - Saturday, June 19. Don't miss a single note!

Piedmont Blūz- Saturday, June 19 @ 7:30pm

Husband and wife team, Benedict and Valerie Turner - the Piedmont Blūz Acoustic Trio - are ambassadors of Country Blues music and the Piedmont style of fingerpicking. Loved wherever they go, the duo feels that "there are stories to tell, people to remember, and things that must be said," so in addition to tickling your ears with blues, they weave a bit of history into each song. This evening's performance will include references and music to celebrate Juneteenth.

Inducted into the NY Blues Hall of Fame in 2018, Piedmont Blūz has been featured in numerous festivals including the Newport Folk Festival, Chicago Blues Festival, Tel Aviv Blues Festival, Clearwater Revival, and Brooklyn Folk Festival to name a few.
