The Frick Collection, in NYC recently underwent a major renovation and enhancement project making critical updates and additions to its historic space. Housed in a 1914 Fifth Avenue landmark mansion, the Frick has operated as a public art museum for nearly 90 years.
Honoring the building’s original character while respecting the historic architectural preservation, the remodeled Frick will once again present their world class collection of great masterpieces by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Velazquez, Bellini, Titian, El Greco, Piero, Holbein, Van Dyck, Fragonard, Whistler and many others.
The Frick renovation improves the infrastructure, while the expansion introduces a new auditorium for public programs, public access to second floor galleries, physically unites the library with exhibition spaces, while adding a special exhibition gallery, café, and education space.
A very special exhibition of “Vermeer's Love Letters” featuring three paintings by the Dutch master (two loaned from Dublin, and Amsterdam,) depicting women writing letters and revealing themes of love, longing, and intimacy debuted the new special exhibition space in summer 2025. The exhibition was accompanied by a catalog of the same name. A Drawing exhibition space was also allocated in the new design.
The Frick made its highly anticipated reopening on April 17, 2025. Professor Thomas Germano will present this visual lecture focusing on the renovations, new features, and the collection of world class art.
