Event Details
Make a terrarium in recognition of Earth Day with a master gardener from Clark Gardens. Plants provided. You may choose to bring your own container.
The rainforest terrariums are self-sustaining ecosystems. Participants learn about the different layers of the rainforest and the living creatures within each layer. They learn how to layer the different items within the terrarium, which utilizes soil, compost, sand, activated charcoal, moss, pebbles, and tillandia, which is an airplant. We use mason jars with lids to make the terrariums, and once the lids are closed after we spritz in a little bit of water, participants can put the terrariums on a windowsill and they become self-sustaining ecosystems.
Registration required.
