Event Details

We are delighted to present an afternoon of traditional Irish music with a performance by Luke Powers, a long-standing member of the Northport Pipe & Drums.

Luke Powers bought his first set of uilleann pipes from New York-based pipemaker Seth Gallagher in January 1998, and received tutelage from renowned, American piper Jerry O'Sullivan, as well as Dublin-born, piping genius Ivan Goff. He attended Irish-language classes at the Gerry Tobin Irish-Language School in Babylon, NY. Luke has played uilleann pipes at Symphony Space for its Bloomsday Celebration twice, and has appeared on Hofstra University and Fordham University radio, as well Raidió na Gaeltachta in Ireland. He has taught Irish at the Gerry Tobin school for over 20 years, and at Molloy College as part of its continuing education program since 2012.

This is an in-person program taking place in the Auditorium of Long Beach Library. Space is limited. Register below.
