Nonprofit J-Bird Music for The Arts, Inc. is proud to present the appearance of Rock Music Icon David Bennett Cohen (Country Joe & The Fish) on opening day of this year's 13th Annual Long Beach ROXX NY Rock Music Festival, taking place in New York's "City By The Sea" Long Beach NY!
A Bit About David:
Musician/Singer/Songwriter/Recording Artist/Music Educator and Brooklyn NY native David Bennett Cohen, best known for his innovative keyboard playing and as Founding Member/Keyboardist with Berkeley CA's American Psychedelic/Rock 'n' Roll band Country Joe & The Fish (1965-1969), has a rich history recording and/or performing with such artists as Janis Joplin, Luther Tucker, Mick Taylor, Tim Hardin, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Kenny Rankin, Huey Lewis, Michael Bloomfield, Bob Weir, Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Garcia, Leo Kotke and many other world renowned musicians. He continues his performing career to current day, playing with many of his former musical cohorts as well as a solo career around the USA. In the 1990's, David toured with the musical RENT, performing on guitar and keyboards.
As a Music Educator, David has made several instructional books, DVD’s and videos on Homespun Tapes: (2) books, “David Bennett Cohen Teaches Blues Piano” and “David Bennett Cohen Teaches Rock and Roll Piano” (published with Hal-Leonard); a DVD series on Blues/ Rock Piano and one on Ragtime Piano; a six video series on Blues Piano as well as video Blues and Rock Techniques for Hammond Organ. In addition, he has two guitar instruction albums on Kicking Mule Records, “How to Play Folk Guitar”, and, “Rock and Roll Guitar”. In spite of his busy schedule, David still finds time for private piano and guitar students.

About The Festival #LBROXXNY:
The 13th Annual Long Beach ROXX NY music festival, a FREE EVENT, has been re-imagined since 2020 to Feature and Support Independent Musicians/Singers/Songwriters, the Indie Music Industry & Community and Original Music Exclusively. This year's festival will be presented live, in-person on Opening Day, Sunday Nov. 10, 2024, 2pm-3pm in the 2nd floor auditorium of the Long Beach Public Library (elevator accessible), 111 W. Park Ave., Long Beach NY and live-streamed only via Facebook Live on Monday Nov. 11th - Thurs. Nov. 14th here: https://www.facebook.com/longbeachroxxny
This year's FREE event is an innovative and unprecedented collaboration between New York's progressive Long Beach Public Library and 501(c)3 nonprofit J-Bird Music for The Arts, supporting Original Indie Musicians/Singers/Songwriters as well as our primary Mission, supporting Music in New York Education & Qualifying Programs.
Long Beach ROXX NY, Produced by Joanne Phillips, is the only Rock Music Festival hosted and sponsored in part by a library venue in New York State.
