Event Details

Join the North Park Civic Association and deputy Nassau County executive Anissa Moore for Long Beach Library's annual National African American Read-In 2023! During this hybrid event, we'll be celebrating books, stories, and poetry written by Black authors all over the world. Read a favorite passage from a beloved book, recite a poem, perform a reading, and we will join the NCTE in commemorating books written by Black authors that elevate Black experiences.

The National African American Read-In is the nation's first and oldest community event dedicated to promoting diversity in literature. Established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), more than six million people have joined around the world since then, including Long Beach community members and the Long Beach Public Library.

This is a hybrid event. You can join In Person or on Zoom.
