Join us for this special presentation from local author Dennis Carey, who will talk with us about his recently published novel, Silver Strand: The Long Beach Saga.

Bridget O’Herlihy is about to freeze to death on the deck of the shipwrecked Mexico, 200 yards from the shining silver sands of a barrier beach 3000 miles from Ireland. Is it her feeble prayers, her plucky resourcefulness, or the mystical power of the relic she holds that delivers her from a certain doom?
Trace the history of Long Beach from the 1837 shipwreck through Superstorm Sandy in 2012, paralleled by the mystery of the lost Staff of St. Patrick.

Dennis Carey is a resident of Long Beach, New York where he was a beachcomber, lifeguard and surfer before embarking on a medical career in pediatric endocrinology. His interest in American and World History has been lifelong. Silver Strand: The Long Beach Saga is his first published work of fiction but Dr. Carey has published over 40 academic articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters in the fields of pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology.
