AARP Fraud Prevention Workshop

This 90-minute FREE fraud-prevention workshop is designed by AARP to help inform and protect the general public against new and emerging types of fraud and scams. We will explore how scams operate--be it phishing, smishing, or fraudulent operators--how fraud occurs, what is targeted and why, and the best way to protect ourselves from it.  This presentation will also warn against common pathways by which people become easy targets, preying upon our emotions, vulnerabilities, and other life situations. Although scammer tactics are always changing, AARP has developed a thorough and robust set of fraud prevention guidelines which have been recently updated for life in 2024. Even if patrons have attended a different AARP Fraud Prevention workshop in the past, we highly recommend attending this brand new, redesigned class which has been updated to respond to the latest threats. The event is fully catered for attendees of this workshop at no cost.
