This sweeping historical novel illuminates the extraordinary relationship between First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln and Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley, her gifted seamstress who was born a slave. It begins in the hallowed halls of the White House through the trials of the Civil War and enduring almost to the end of Mrs. Lincoln’s days.
