Uncommon Edibles to Plant – and How to Eat Them

Tired of the same old fruits and vegetables? Gardening coach Jessica Damiano will introduce you to 31 tasty-yet-uncommon edibles to add to your garden -- and your table! You'll learn how to grow and prepare lesser-used crops like kohlrabi, celeriac, ground cherries, Duborskian rice, bitter gourd, bok choy and garden huckleberry, and many others.

Jessica Damiano’s weekly AP gardening column is distributed to 1,700 newspapers and 6,000 television and radio stations around the world. She is also a gardening coach, Cornell-trained master gardener, multiple-award-winning journalist and author of (also award-winning) The Weekly Dirt newsletter. Jessica has been featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition, The GardenAmerica Radio Show and the GardenDC podcast, and quoted in The Wall St. Journal, Martha Stewart Living, The Spruce and more. She lives on the North Shore of Long Island with her daughter, dog and a whole bunch of perennials, vegetable plants and weeds.

Whether you're experienced, a beginner, or just love to garden, all are welcome! We meet on the third Friday of every month at 11:30 AM in the LBPL Program Room.
